A great many members of the aristocracy lived in Aspeland. The one most known to us nowadays, was Birgitta Birgersson, later St. Birgitta, or St. Bridget. Birgitta had a lot of property in this region. Other noblemen were: Israel Birgersson, Karl Knutsson Bonde, Ivar Axelsson Tott, Henrik Svinkula and Claus Ruska.
