During the 14th century, the aristocracy became increasingly influential. Many noblemen then chose to fortify their manors to demonstrate their power. In Sevede, there are at least three fortified noblemen ´s manor houses; Refsholm in the parish of Södra Vi, Sverkers Udde in the parish of Pelarne and Garpön in the parish of Rumskulla.
