Kungsborgen

Kungsborgen (the King’s Hall) lies in Grisbäck in the parish of Söderåkra. During the Middle Ages a fortified manor lay here, somewhat smaller than the one in Påbonäs. The diameter of the foundation measures 55 meters. We do not know when it was constructed, nor who might have lived here. It may have been built in the 14th century like so many other similar manors houses. In the village of Grisbäck the Ummereise family once had an estate. Was this family once the owners of Kungsborgen? Might it have been handed over to Queen Margareta in the 1390’s, just like Påbonäs was?
