Streets and houses

There were big lavish wooden houses in the towns, where rich merchants lived, as well as simple wooden houses, where craftsmen lived and worked. In the town centre there was the square, from which the streets led out to the town limits. Most towns had a broad, paved main street, but also narrow streets and alleys winding along among the houses. Read about how people lived in a town, what the streets and alleys looked like and what kind of booths merchants and craftsmen had.
