Laurentius was King Erik ´s own tailor. He came to Kalmar at the beginning of the 15th century - maybe even earlier. Laurentius settled down in one of the lavish stone houses at the square – in fact in the very house where Björn the founder once lived.
It was quite prestigious to be tailor by appointment to the court. Laurentius made clothes from fine woollen cloth, from silk and velvet for King Erik. He probably made clothes for other distinguished people as well.
In 1418, Laurentius married Ingegerd Gudvastdotter. Ingegerd was the daughter of Gudvast Laurensson , one of the 77 Kalmar men innocently executed in Visby in 1396 after being unfairly accused of piracy. Laurentius and Ingegerd had a daughter, Birgitta.
In 1430, Laurentius died, a year or so before his first grand-child was born.
